Listen

Sitting on the backyard patio, with a gentle December breeze waking the chimes for one small second, the sound was so pleasing to my ears.

At that very moment, hearing the beautiful perfect pitch, all the worries of the day were erased from my mind. Even the background noise of traffic and an overly loud car radio passing by did not take away the pleasure of the wind chimes.

I think the sound of wind chimes mimics the wonderful sounds we hear when we listen closely to nature. The birds chirping their song for all to hear. The squirrels chattering to warn someone is near and the winter leaves rustling on the trees as the branches dance in the breeze. All of these are here for us to enjoy if we put aside a little time for ourselves.

Life and the hustle and bustle of busy schedules will always take front and center if you allow it to. Pencil in “me time” to let yourself enjoy the silence of the day. You might just hear a wind chime softly in the background playing a note for you.

Free Falling…

As much as I love Fall, it can seem like a losing battle when trying to keep the leaves out of the birdbath.

If the leaves are left in the water, they will start to decay and may stain your birdbath. Not only that, the water becomes unfit for the birds to drink or bath in.

Give your backyard friends fresh water daily even if it means sweeping out the leaves, which I do with a whisk broom, and refilling your birdbath a couple of times each day until the leaves have all fallen.

A little extra love and care this time of year will be greatly appreciated by your backyard friends and you will reap the rewards of your effort by seeing the birds enjoying the clean birdbath.

Happy Birdwatching, my friends.

Perfect Timing

After being inside all morning, I decided to sit outside for awhile and watch the birds. When I stepped out the back door, what a delight it was to see this little guy sunning himself on the patio table.

He then jumped to the rose bush when he became camera shy. Can you find him among the leaves? His green color sure blends well with the bush.

As I turned to sit in the chair, there was another little friend soaking up the warmth from the bricks.

He was quite a climber and quickly was out of sight.

Two little lizard friends feeling right at home on my patio. It’s always nice to see your backyard beaming with what nature has to offer. All you have to do is be still and look around. The beauty of nature never disappoints.
